PE days: Monday and Thursday
Welcome to Oak Class! Our busy year is set to start off with our Stone age to Iron age topic, where we will be exploring what life was like for the early civilisations of Britain including a trip to Flag Fen in November. In the Spring term we will move onto Geography, investigating how volcanoes and earthquakes occur before delving deep into global trade and how everyday items are often the result of complex supply chains. In Summer we will visiting the rainforests of the Americas (only metaphorically unfortunately!) to learn about the Maya civilisation and the impacts of deforestation on the Amazon today.
In English we will be writing a variety of both fiction and non-fiction genres, ranging from an explanation text about an incredible new machine that the children design based on Wallace and Gromit’s cracking contraptions, to everybody’s favourite – HORROR STORIES!
Our PE days are on Monday and Thursday, and over the course of the year the children will participate in a range of sports and activities including tag rugby, gymnastics, lacrosse, volleyball, badminton and cricket.
Whilst this year will be hard work for our year fives and sixes, we will have a lot of fun on the way! For more information about what we will be getting up to, see our termly overviews below!
