What does it look like for each year group?

Within our topics Geography, History, Art & Design and Design Technology will be taught. The following shows the topic units taught in each year group. 

Year One:

Autumn: Home Sweet Home  Spring: Famous for more than five minutes   Summer: Carnival of the Animals

Year Two:

Autumn: Whatever the Weather       Spring: Great fire of London   Summer: Shipwrecked (oceans & Seas)

Year 3

Autumn: Natural Disasters (Take Cover)        Spring: Romans           Summer: Local study – WW2

Year 4

Autumn: Rainforests               Spring: Anglo Saxons & Vikings          Summer: Ancient Greece

Year 5

Autumn: Ancient Egyptians    Spring: USA     Summer: The Victorians

Year 6

Autumn: Stone to Iron Age     Spring: Rivers              Summer: The Maya

 

What is our approach to teaching topic at Trinity? 

Teachers use a range of resources from a variety of sources in order to teach an engaging and interactive curriculum. This is supplemented by external visits to places linked to the topic. 

 

How often is the subject taught in each year group?

Topic is taught for at least two hours per week.

 

Who is responsible for teaching the subject?

The class teacher is responsible for teaching topic.
